And definitely do not ever have them as part of your business. Don Childers has been a crane operator since 1989 after spending 8 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Don has been teaching various courses for Industry and for Fire Departments since the year 2000. Don Childers is a FEMA Subject Matter Expert on cranes and rigging and a California State Fire Marshall Instructor. Don spent 19 years with Orange County Fire Authority on FEMA California Urban Search & Rescue Task Force 5 as a Heavy Equipment Rigger Specialist, and was deployed to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Harvey.
